The WGC orienteering girls have had another very good season. At the final prizegiving on Sunday we had four winners:
First Senior girls' Experienced (a very close competition): Lara Molloy
Third Senior Girls Novice: Nicole Kennedy
Second Intermediate Girls experienced: Alice Fisher
Third Junior girls experienced: Nyah Parbhu
Great work girls - fully deserved.

WGC Art Award 2015

Entries to the 2015 WGC Art Award are on show in the Atrium.  Students will have the chance to vote for the ‘People’s Choice’ award (the winner receiving a $50 Farmers voucher). To do this you need to pay a gold coin donation at the Student Office where you will then be given a ticket.  Write the number of the entry you wish to vote for on the back of the ticket and put the ticket in the bucket provided by the exhibition.  Voting will close on 6 August.  All donations will go to the WGC charity for 2015 – The Mental Health Foundation.

WGC Success At Hokonui Fashion Awards 2015

Sienna Packer won 'Streetwear' with her Pop Art design; Breah Lucas was 2nd in 'Streetwear' and Hannah Pilcher was highly commended and won a Merit award in the Nightlife section.  Judges, Denise L'Estrange-Corbet of WORLD and Dr Margot Barton of the Otago Polytechnic School of Fashion commented on the high standard of Wellington Girls' College entries, especially the workmanship and presentation.

Fencing Success

The Wellington Girls College Fencing team (Claire Cooper, Katherine Little, Elizabeth Little) has won the Central Secondary Schools team Foil event, which means they will be going to Auckland to compete in the NZ National Secondary School Champs.  They will be competing for the Women's epee teams and Women's foil teams events at nationals. Claire recently won a bronze medal at the Australian Nationals and she has been nominated for a Oceanic cadet championship.
