Trip to Popup Globe Theatre

32 Drama students flew to Auckland  to experience what it is like to be inside the Pop Up Globe Theatre.  After Henry V, students got to pose with three of the actors in front of the stage." It was such a cool atmosphere and an awesome experience...." and the same all-male cast performed As You Like It the following day. 

Students said they loved seeing the shows and getting to know some of the other Drama students better. "It was entertaining how they brought comedy into the play, and the fight scenes were amazing to watch."

Last night Hannah Prior (Y13) and Charlotte Sinclair (Y12) represented WGC at a dinner hosted by the French Ambassador to New Zealand, to celebrate French gastronomy in an event that involves 2,000 chefs on all five continents, Goût de France. Both Charlotte and Hannah really enjoyed sharing a meal with the Ambassador, Her Excellency Mme. Florence Jeanblanc-Risler and learning more about the world of diplomacy. According to Hannah the evening was "inoubliable" (unforgettable) and she said she has never tasted such amazing food in all her life.

NZ Horse of the Year Competition

Jaimie Mulholland in Year 11 attended the NZ Horse of the Year competition in Hastings this month. It was a great competition despite the awful weather and mud everywhere!  Jaimie and her horse Solomon placed 6th overall in their title class and she also placed 2nd in Best Rider.  It was a tough competition in very trying conditions but she rode brilliantly and should be very proud of her efforts.
