We have had a great start to the year for Scarlett, and it is something we want to share with you as it is due to the encouragement of Helen Breeze (HOD Media).
Last year as part of NCEA Level 2 Scarlett created a documentary on a topic to an inspiring story. She selected Georgia, a graduate of the Zeal programme, a young person that overcame anxiety to become a successful barista running her own pop-up cafe. The documentary she produced gained an excellence in NCEA. Helen also encouraged Scarlett to submit it into a film competition called Making A Difference - Inspiring Stories. The award ceremony was held last Saturday and Scarlett won three awards!
Social Justice Award - sponsored by World Vision, and includes a trip to Auckland to visit a film production company who will mentor her through her next film project, and a visit to World Vision headquarters.
Social Enterprise Award
Runner Up - Most Inspiring Story (which is the second highest prize in the competition).
We are so pleased for her and it affirms her choice of going to NZ Film & TV School - and she loves every minute of her day there.
We were also pleased to see Jay Whipps representing WGC on the night with an Honourable Mention award too. It was a great night for them both.
