Young Ambassadors to France

Congratulations to two of our French-language students, Rebecca Farquhar and Eleana Hill, who have been selected to participate in the Young Ambassadors 2018 "Following Family Footsteps" trip to France in July.

This three-week trip is organised by the Embassy of France in New Zealand, in conjunction with the New Zealand Association of French Teachers. It commemorates World War I and French-New Zealand friendship.

After visiting Paris, the Young Ambassadors will go to northeastern France to visit historical and cultural sites where New Zealand soliders contributed significantly to World War I, including the battlefields of Longueval, Caterpillar Valley, Le Quesnoy and the Carrière de Wellington beneath the town of Arras. They will maintain a blog with commentaries and photographs on the Shared Histories website, allowing their journey to be followed on a daily basis.

There will also be a reciprocal exchange of students from Amiens and Lille, and Rebecca and Eleana will take part in shared activities with them in Wellington and Waiouru (an Anzac Day dawn ceremony in Wellington and a trip to Waiouru military camp).

Félicitations, Rebecca et Eleana!
