Netball Success
by Lorraine Stafford - Tuesday, 4 September 2018, 8:36 AM

WGC Junior A Netball team (WGC 5), rounded off a mighty season on Saturday 1 September when they beat St Mary's Junior A team in a closely contested and hard fought Grand Final game to win 24-22, thereby  taking out the Premier Reserve 4 grade.
The team's season has been outstanding, starting in Collegiate 1A grade and being promoted to a Premier Reserve Grade was exciting enough, but then to win this grade really topped it off.
The team, coached by Chantal McKee, were undefeated in their Saturday ASB games winning a total of 17 games. Also, before the official season had started they beat Palmerston North Girls High School in an exchange and in the CSW Junior A Tournament, they only lost 1 of 7 games to place 3rd in the Wellington Region beating WEGC in the 3rd/4th play off.

They have represented WGC proudly and have had a blast. Enjoying each other's company and having fun along the way has been paramount to the success of the team. Chantal McKee mentored and coached magnificently and was in fact nominated by the school for a Netball Wellington award in the category of Coach of the Year for player development.
Congratulations Lili Clarke, Taylor Bryers, Maddy Coyle, Justice Firestone, Alana Taggart, Ruby Mcauley, Izzy Hewett, Lily Marshall, Anna Tirikatene and Jessie McKee on a magnificent 2018 season.
